Beef and Potato Shepherd's Pie

Serves:

Ingredients

  • 1 lb (450g) beef mince

  • 4 large potatoes, peeled and diced

  • 1 onion, diced

  • 2 carrots, diced

  • 1 cup frozen peas

  • 2 cloves garlic, minced

  • 2 tablespoons tomato paste

  • 1 cup beef broth

  • 2 tablespoons Worcestershire sauce

  • Salt and pepper to taste

  • 2 tablespoons butter

  • 1/4 cup milk

  • Optional: shredded cheese for topping

Method:

1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).

2. In a pot of boiling water, cook diced potatoes until tender. Drain and mash with butter and milk until smooth. Season with salt and pepper. Set aside.

3. In a large skillet, cook beef mince over medium heat until browned. Drain excess fat.

4. Add diced onions, minced garlic, and diced carrots to the skillet. Cook until vegetables are softened.

5. Stir in tomato paste, beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, frozen peas, salt, and pepper. Simmer for 10-15 minutes.

6. Transfer the beef mixture to a baking dish. Spread mashed potatoes over the top.

7. Optionally, sprinkle shredded cheese over the mashed potatoes.

8. Bake in the preheated oven for 25-30 minutes, or until the top is golden brown.

9. Serve hot and enjoy this cozy beef and potato shepherd's pie!
